Days 5-7 - The final stretch!

Hello everyone - It's Sunday morning and I have been back in the UK for 24 hours.

We had internet issues during the last couple of days therefore I couldn't keep you all updated.

So I will summarise the last two days for you

Wednesday Day 5 - Pre Breakfast: Walk/jog round the block and step aerobics
Morning - An 8km walk up in the mountains with a bt of resistance train ing thrown in for good measure.
We had lunch out - clear chicken soup and tuna salad - very nice! (no bread though)
abs work out on return. Played Paul at Poker and didn't come off too bad

Thursday Day 6  - No morning jog today - instead a two hour run in the car to Slanic Salina - massive Salt mine - which is a tourist attraction and still a working mine. A 2k drop in a very shakey traditional lift shaft which opened up into an amazing 208m high collection of caverns, which also included a football pitch and badminton court - so you can guess what we got upto down there.

Friday Day 7 - Hit the road running in the morning and managed a full 25 minutes without stopping - this included a hill so well chuffed with myself. I even managed two full laps of the circuit training without too much pain. Due to the snow fall (Yes Snow) we headed to a local ski resort to have a look about and went on a cable car from 1400m to 2000m - Of course we had a little mooch about whilst at the top!

After lunch we headed to a gorge (sorry can't remember the name of the place) which also had a small cave to visit. Our guide was a 12 year old village kid - who appeared very professional - and she told a good tale!

Gabi one of my fellow  captures (who has been a bit of sneak at times) managed to side track Lumi and Cami (our instructors) for a bit whilst we tried a bit of the local Plum vodka! - Wow it nearly knocked me off my feet! |the best of it was we didn't get found out as Gabi had a reserve of chewing gum to cover up!

We had a good 6k ramble up the gorge and back beore heading back to camp for our last supper of Steak, potatoes and veg - followed by a lovely natural yogurt with a touch of local honey!

Early night all round as we had a 5am start the following morning to get me back to the airport. and weigh and measure in.

Total - lost 5LB - gained plenty of muscle and lost 12cm off my waist - so so i'll hopefully be on a size 12 shopping trip next week!

Day 4 - Half way! Not that i'm counting

Well today started with the normal 6:30 am jog. followed by a step aerobics session to earn breakfast.

After breakfast I was walked to Bran Castle the main touist attraction in Romania. Got absolutly soaked getting there as the heaven opened yet again. The astle provied light relief from the rain. It was really impressive overall dating back to the 16th century has been home to various Romainian Royalty over the years, the most famous being Vlad Tepes  - who was nicked named Dracula for the bloody way he went about killing his captives. His death punshment was to ram a steak right throught the body from the backside to the neck! and that it is it Unitl Bram Stoker wrote his lovely novel.

After drip drying we had lunch and as the weather was so appalling we went to the local swimming pool for a relaxing session? Several las of the pool - water aerobics and an water side abs work out (followed by a sauna :)

After dinner I was given a massage as my legs are still like rock.

we have now just finished evening classes - a cheesey dance session  (I got to teach them YMCA) and a gym ball special and stretch.

I haveapparently been doing really well and I have been provided with a non alcoholic beer - cheers!

We are now going to play Poker!

Good night!

Day 3 - More exercise? - I thought this was a holiday!

Well and truely into my 3rd day - i'm sure I can get this company with the trade description act. What holiday have you ever been on where you go to bed a 9:30pm because you're nazzed and get up at 6:30am for a jog!

:) kind a wierd really but even though I ache like hell and ache in places i didn't know exisited I feel as though I have more energy today - although I am not letting on as they will make me work harder.

After our usual pre breakfast aerobics and jog this morning we headed up the hill on the other side of the valley. We got up there in just 45 minutes and I was leader of the pack today and I insisted we went up to the top of the hill which was another 45 minute slog to the top due to my extra energy reserves I had great fun bounding down the hill ahead of the rest.

Lunch was potato soup and then we had chicken, rice and peas. Lunch seems to be the biggest meal of the day. this afternoon we had a pilates and gymball session combined and we have just finished an aerobic session which was an absolute killer!

Off for my third shower of the day - If I don't work off the fat i'm sure to wash it off.

Starting to feel as though I have changed shape a bit - as for the weight loss who knows what is going on!

Diner tonight is going to be BBQ trout and steamed veg - the trout are currently still alive in a bucket in the kitchen! Something to do with keeping in the nutrients!

Well that's all for today folks unless something strange happens later that I need to tell you about......

Day 2 - Sunday 28th August

Mad thundersrorm last night - so much so I only got about 4 hours sleep.

It has been raining all day so no mountain walking today. Instead we went Kaznov Castle nearby which was a 15th century castle, that had a re-inactment of a mini battle from he 1st world war. Explosives  and gun shots every where!

Forgot to mention I was dragged out kicking and screaming at 6:30 for a jog/walk. Followed by more circuit training before breakfast. (Before you ask - every muscle in my body hurts!)

After a lunch of soup and fitatta we had a legs bums and tums session which i really stuggled with as everythin hurts so much - however as a reward I recieve a back and leg massage.

A bit later in the afternoon I had my first taste of salsa dancing - Burton Salsa club you will not be recruiting me however Tutbury Pilates may find a new member - much more relaxing.

Just waiting for dinner to be served - I believe we have steamed veg, rice and beef steak for tea with a bit of yogurt. Shame we haven't got a bottle of Rose to go with it, so i'll have to revert back to my new additiction of berry fruit tea or water!

Not sure what is on the agenda after dinner -however a trip to a spa is the order of the day tommorrow if the weather is poor again or a trip up the overlooking moutain!  - so bring on the rain!

:)

P.S - i am still smiling!

Day 1 - Saturday 28th August

Salut! (hello) my first achievment of the day was beating the 7am whislte call! I was up showered, dressed, and ready to go before Lumi (Head of Fitness) got anywhere near me.

Already taking bets as to whether I can managed that every morning.

Well today all in all has been pretty good. It'svery peaceful and relaxing here, in the valley between the mountains.

we had morningstetch at 7:30 for 30 mins, Breakfast of cottage cheese, halfa pepper, a boiled egg and a wholemeal wrap. Not your normal breakfast but tasted ok anyway.

Next up was circuit training - oh what fun skipping can be! in 27 degre heat!

After the snack of mixed fruit and nuts (for those of you who know me you will know how overjoyed i was with that surprise) we moved onto Base conditioning with my new friend the gym ball. This was quite relaxing after the earlier events of the day.

Lunch was pure vegetable soup and a chicken liver salad which was rather yummy.

We were then allowed a good break before donning boxing gloves ( our first opportunity to get a bit of our own back on the instructors)

So by this tim it is 3pm and every part of my body has wondered what the hell has hit it!

After a refreshment of kiwi and nectrine I got to escape camp for 2 hours - the only carch was it was an organised hike up the hill and back. Views were pretty amazing at the top. Also kept bumping in to farmers cutting the long grass by hand an others raking it up intohuge haystacks! One old lady happily raking her day away has lived up there for 39 years and they walk down to the valley every day to get water!

Dinner consisted of gridded chicken peas and carrots. I then recieved my first real treat of the day - a full 30 minute back massage by out aeeobic instuctor Cami!

It's now 21:18 and to be honest i'm ready for bed -apparently after informing Lumi and Cami that I wanted to lose 2" of my stomach this week and half a stone they have decided the best course of action is an early morning jog. From now on i'll keep my mouth shut! :)

I hope everyone is well at home - 'till tomorrow..........

I've arrived

Hello - Well i've arrived at camp finally and  pretty nazzed It took 3 hours to get here in the car. The scenery I've seen on the way here has been pretty amazing so I can't wait to get up on the hill tops.Already seen dracula's castle on the way up - that looked pretty good from the roadside.

Just a small group this week. 4 of us in total, and i'm the only English person - apparently two others cancelled last minute.

We've had our welcome dinner (chicken and salad wraps, watermellon kiwi and a peach - and green tea) Yes I already have caffee withdrawal symptoms.

I have my own room (it was supposed to be a shared room however due to the cancellations i've come up trumps)

We have fitness assesments and a private weigh in and measure up in the morning along with a private chat to work out what my goals are for the week! - Hey if I can get to the end of the week and look like GI Jane i'll be happy.
From the look of some of the equipment lying around the place, gym balls, weights, skipping ropes and boxing gloves along with the introduction to Camila our aerobic coach i'm in for a beasting!

Well there's not much else to say for now - it's 22:40 local time and i need to unpack and catch some zeds before the whistle call at 7am (aparently we are getting a sleep in tommorrow to break us in gently) till tommorrow

ChasingDracula -2 days

This is my first ever attempt at blogging so please hang in there, i'm learning as I go here!

So what is Chasing Dracula all about?

In less than 48 hours  i'll be at a Weight loss fitness camp in Romania, based in the Transylvanian Mountains

I am lead to believe that the 8 night 7 day experience will kick start me to a healthier life style, will help me loose weight and generally make me fitter. The week involves early morning starts, daily walks to local attractions such as Dracula's castle and a salt mine or muddy volcanoes along with many other fitness sessions such as yoga, dance, self defence, aerobics and much much more.

I'm told the camp has wireless internet for me to hook into so hopefully i can keep you up to date with my goings on!

But will I make it?

Watch this space.
